School is a safe place for your child.

Kia ora koutotu. School is open as normal today and still is a very safe place for your child. We only ask for children who have family members unwell or are unwell themselves to take the precautions and get tested, otherwise, school is a safe and great place for your child to be. Feel free to email the principal or the office for any queries. Ngā mihi nui

3 Way Conferences Canceled

 3-way conferences canceled

Morena
In light of the number of cases we now have in Canterbury and Ashburton, we are going to cancel the 3 Way Conferences to do our bit. We were hopeful we would still be free of omicron at this point.
If you really need to speak to your teacher about your child's learning you can set up a phone conference by emailing your child's teacher.

Monday the 28 February: School will be closed for instruction for teacher only day.

Tuesday the 1st March: Now a normal full school day.

Sorry for any inconvenience and thank you to those who set a conference time.

3 Way Conferences - Tuesday 1st March 1 - 7pm, Wednesday 2nd March 3.15 - 6.30pm

 3 Way Conferences:

As you know we always have three-way conferences within the first six weeks of school starting back. The rationale behind this is the teachers know the children a little by then and the early conferences assist in parents supporting teachers in getting to know their children better, as well as this being a good time to set learning goals.

This year we are having our Term 1 conferences on Tuesday 1st March and Wednesday 2nd March.

School will close for interviews at 12.30pm on Tuesday with interviews starting at 1pm, and close at the normal time of 3pm on Wednesday with interviews starting at 3.15pm on this day.

Powhiri

Talofa lava, Kia orana, Malo e leile, Fakaalofa lahi atu, Bula Vinaka, Talofa ni, Kia ora and hello.

Welcome back.  We trust you had a great school break and fabulous Christmas. It was nice to see the children bounce back into school, eager to be with their friends and to be in their new classrooms.  The teachers have worked hard preparing the classrooms to be inclusive and rich learning environments over the last week, despite both Rooms 1 and 2 having to work around building renovations.

A thank you note to commend both teachers and children on returning to school with the public health mask-wearing order.  I was in class on Tuesday teaching Room 1 and as a result, got an insight into just how difficult it is to operate this way. Well done to the Yr. 4 - 6 children and teachers who are doing their best during this difficult time.

Despite the pandemic, we are in for a great year ahead at school.

Tip For Parents

Give your child every opportunity to read to you daily. Ten minutes of reading five times a week = 50 minutes of reading time a week.

If you did this for a minimum of 35 weeks a year we have your child engaging in text for 29 hours extra every year! That 29 hours helps your child read better because they do more miles, are exposed to many words, and importantly are exposed to many ideas through the text.

It is a win - win for all concerned!
