Kia ora Netherby School Community.

We are in the process of reviewing our Policy and Procedures for Planning, Reviewing and Reporting (NAG2) and Student Enrolment and Administration (NAG 6).  They are on line on our webpage under the BOT heading and then under NAG 2 and NAG 6 headings for you to read, consider and comment on if required.  There is an accompanying sheet that can be printed off and used to make comment. This is found in the same place and is labelled Policy Review Sheet.

Thank you for your time.

Donations Scheme

The Government introduced a donations scheme for schools to opt into before November 14, 2019. The donations scheme means the Government gives school $150 per child to cover costs associated with internal school sports, buses, swimming, asking for a school donation and any other school based curriculum costs. The Board has considered the donation scheme option and has accepted it as it will reduce costs to our community considerably.
However, parents will still need to pay for:
School uniforms
Books and pens etc for learning.
Yr.5/6 School Camp
Mindplus (if your child attends)

The Scheme takes effect from 2020. For further information do not hesitate to search more information about the scheme on line https://parents.education.govt.nz/essential-information/news-stories/donations-scheme-to-be-introduced-for-decile-1-7-schools/
Or come in and see us. Kind regards, Phil Wheeler, on behalf of the Board of Trustees.

Tip For Parents

Give your child every opportunity to read to you daily. Ten minutes of reading five times a week = 50 minutes of reading time a week.

If you did this for a minimum of 35 weeks a year we have your child engaging in text for 29 hours extra every year! That 29 hours helps your child read better because they do more miles, are exposed to many words, and importantly are exposed to many ideas through the text.

It is a win - win for all concerned!
